Artificio PDF Designer

Overview

The PDF Designer in Artificio allows users to create, customize, and generate professional PDF documents using drag-and-drop components. Users can design static templates or dynamic documents that automatically populate data from connected data views, workflows, and requests.

The designer supports multiple interactive components, enabling users to create forms, contracts, reports, invoices, certificates, and other business documents.

PDF Designer Components

Page

A Page component is used to create additional pages within the PDF document. Multiple pages can be added to organize content and create multi-page documents.

Text

The Text component allows users to display static text or dynamic data within the PDF. It is commonly used for headings, labels, descriptions, and field values.

Variable Text

Variable Text dynamically populates data from connected data views or workflows. It is used when document content needs to change based on incoming data.

Checkbox

The Checkbox component allows users to display selectable options. It can be used for confirmations, approvals, acknowledgments, and data collection requests.

Radio Group

The Radio Group component presents multiple options where only one selection can be chosen. It is useful for surveys, approvals, and decision-based forms.

Date

The Date component displays or captures date values. It can be pre-populated dynamically or completed by end users during document processing.

Select Component

The Select component provides a dropdown list of predefined options. Users can choose a single value from the available selections.

Table

The Table component is used to display structured data in rows and columns. It is commonly used for invoices, purchase orders, item lists, reports, and schedules.

Signature

The Signature component captures electronic signatures from users or approvers. It can be used for agreements, approvals, compliance documents, and authorization workflows.

QR Code

The QR Code component generates a scannable QR code using static or dynamic data. It can be used for verification, tracking, document access, and authentication purposes.

Barcode

The Barcode component generates machine-readable barcodes from static or dynamic values. It is commonly used for inventory management, logistics, and document tracking.

Image

The Image component allows users to insert logos, photographs, stamps, or other visual elements into the PDF document.

SVG

The SVG component supports scalable vector graphics for high-quality icons, diagrams, and illustrations without loss of resolution.

Line

The Line component is used to create separators and visual divisions between sections of a document, improving readability and structure.

Rectangle

The Rectangle component allows users to create bordered sections, containers, and highlighted areas within the PDF layout.

Circle

The Circle component is used for visual indicators, design elements, seals, and custom graphical layouts within the document.

Dynamic Data Integration

All supported components can be connected to Artificio Data Views, workflows, and external data sources to display dynamic information within the PDF.

Dynamic data mapping enables documents to be automatically populated with real-time information without manual intervention.

Request Components

Several components can be configured as Request Components to collect information from users during document processing.

Supported request components include:

  • Text
  • Checkbox
  • Date
  • Table
  • Signature
  • Select Component
  • Radio Group

These components allow users to enter, update, approve, or sign information directly within the document workflow.

Component Properties

Each component contains configurable properties that control its behavior and appearance.

Common properties include:

  • Position and alignment
  • Width and height
  • Font styling
  • Colors and borders
  • Visibility settings
  • Required field settings
  • Dynamic data mapping
  • Validation rules
  • Editable or read-only configuration

The available properties may vary depending on the selected component type.

Document Actions

After designing a PDF template, users can perform several actions:

Save

Save the PDF design as a reusable template for future use.

Download

Generate and download the PDF document for offline access and distribution.

Send Email

Send generated PDFs through email using static recipients or dynamically populated recipient information.

Preview

Preview the document before final generation to verify layout, formatting, and data population.

Static vs Dynamic Documents

Static Documents

Static documents contain fixed content that remains unchanged each time the PDF is generated.

Dynamic Documents

Dynamic documents automatically populate content using connected data sources, workflows, and request responses, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.

Best Practices

  • Use Variable Text for all data-driven fields.
  • Organize large documents using multiple pages.
  • Use tables for structured business data.
  • Add signatures for approvals and compliance workflows.
  • Include QR codes or barcodes for tracking and verification.
  • Preview documents before publishing or sending.
  • Use request components when user input is required.

Summary

Artificio PDF Designer provides a flexible and powerful way to create professional PDF documents using reusable components, dynamic data mapping, electronic signatures, and automated document generation. Whether creating static templates or dynamic workflow-driven documents, users can easily design, manage, and distribute PDFs directly within the Artificio platform.
