SAP AI Agent · Integration · IDocs Configurable
Design scenario · how the agent is configured to work
Why it matters
IDoc errors pile up quietly. Each one needs someone who understands both the interface and the business data, and a careless reprocess can create the same document twice.
How it works
The same four steps as every Artificio agent. The agent does the research and the paperwork; your teams make the decisions.
Inbound and outbound IDocs in error or stuck.
Reads the application messages and the IDoc data behind them.
Groups failures by cause and proposes one fix per cause.
Reprocesses after correction and approval, then checks the result.
Worked example
A customer's EDI orders start failing overnight. Here is what the agent finds before anyone opens the IDoc monitor.
31 IDocs use a new customer part number, NL-SK14, with no customer-material info. 6 IDocs use a ship-to that is blocked for sales.
| Cause | IDocs | Proposed fix |
|---|---|---|
| No customer material for NL-SK14 | 31 | Add customer-material info NL-SK14 → SK-14 |
| Ship-to 1004233 blocked | 6 | Sales to confirm whether to unblock |
| Orders already created? | None | No sales orders exist with these customer PO numbers |
| Reprocess | After fixes | 31 first; 6 after the sales decision |
| Repeat risk | New part numbers | Master data told the customer added parts without notice |
IDocs are reprocessed only after each cause is fixed and the duplicate check is repeated, so no order is created twice.

Inside the platform
The case shows who it is waiting for, what happens next, what the agent checked and exactly what each person is approving.
Waiting for L. Kim (Master data) to confirm the customer-material mapping NL-SK14 → SK-14, asked Mon 2 Nov at 06:09.
After the mapping exists, the integration lead approves reprocessing 31 IDocs. Sales is asked about the blocked ship-to.
| Step | Owner | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnosis | Agent | Done |
| Customer-material info | L. Kim · Master data | Waiting |
| Blocked ship-to | J. Ruiz · Sales | Waiting |
| Reprocess 37 IDocs | Integration lead | On hold |
Create customer-material info for customer 1004221: part NL-SK14 → material SK-14? The description on the IDocs matches SK-14, and 31 orders are waiting.

Capabilities
Every failed IDoc gets the same investigation, whatever the message type or partner.
Ownership
You map message types and causes to teams. Whoever answers first decides, and anything unassigned goes to the integration lead.
Owners, rules and tolerances are configured to your organization and agreed for each deployment.
Controlled autonomy
The agent proves itself on your real work before it writes anything to SAP. The platform measures how often your people agree with it, so you decide when to give it more room, case type by case type.
The agent proposes every action but writes nothing to SAP. Your people decide, and each answer counts toward the agreement rate.
The required owners approve. The agent acts in SAP only when the last approval lands.
For case types you explicitly configure and approve, such as reprocessing IDocs that failed on a lock, once duplicates are ruled out, the agent acts on its own and reports back.
Governed agent runtime
What makes this agent different is its configuration: its instructions, the tools it may use and the policies it works under. Reviewers, approvals, versions and audit work the same way for every agent you add.
Decisions go to named owners or authorized teams, with reminders, and every email links back to the case.
Gathering data is kept separate from changing SAP. Action tools are controlled and can require human approval before they run.
Versions can't be edited, and each case keeps the version it started with, so a change never alters work in progress.

What we measure
Every pilot tracks the same four measures from day one, so the business case comes from your data, not ours.
For SAP teams
The agent reads and writes data through supported SAP interfaces, without modifying standard SAP objects and without replacing your existing governance.
| IDocs | Control records, status and data |
|---|---|
| Application messages | Error details per IDoc |
| Partners | Partner profiles and master data |
| Documents | Orders, invoices and deliveries in SAP |
| Reprocessing | Approved reprocessing only |
|---|---|
| Data fixes | By the owning team, with approval |
| Partner messages | Drafts to EDI partners, sent after review |
| Responses | Every SAP response recorded on the case |
ScopeThe exact interfaces, objects and fields in scope are confirmed for your SAP release and deployment during technical discovery. S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is reviewed case by case, and some landscapes may need additional configuration.
Pilot approach
A focused pilot in your QA or sandbox system proves the agent on your own data before anything reaches production.
Review SAP edition, interfaces, authorizations and representative data.
Agree the message types and partners in scope, the owners and approvals.
Watch real IDocs in shadow mode: the agent diagnoses, your team reprocesses.
Review the four measures, then add message types and approved automatic fixes.

Security & compliance
ISO 27001:2013 certified, SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, GDPR and HIPAA ready. Every agent action is logged and auditable, and SAP credentials stay in the platform's integration accounts.
