SAP AI Agent · FI · SD · Tax · E-invoicing Configurable
Design scenario · how the agent is configured to work
Why it matters
Tax determination depends on where goods ship from and to, what they are and who the parties are. Errors post quietly and surface in VAT returns or audits, while new e-invoicing mandates add formats to validate.
How it works
The same four steps as every Artificio agent. The agent does the research and the paperwork; your teams make the decisions.
Reads invoices, orders and e-invoices as they arrive.
Compares the tax code with your rules.
Flags errors before posting, with the likely correct code.
Applies the correction once the tax specialist approves.
Worked example
A German supplier sends a ZUGFeRD e-invoice to a buyer in the Netherlands, charging German VAT. Here is what the agent finds.
Goods shipped between two EU member states, both parties have valid VAT IDs, and the supply is business to business. Your rules expect reverse charge, not German VAT.
| Check | Finding | Why |
|---|---|---|
| E-invoice format | Valid ZUGFeRD | Structure and mandatory fields pass |
| Ship-from / ship-to | DE → NL | Intra-EU movement of goods |
| VAT IDs | Both valid | Supplier and buyer VAT IDs on the invoice |
| Expected treatment | Reverse charge | Your rule for intra-EU B2B goods |
| Proposed action | Ask for corrected invoice | Supplier reissues without German VAT |
The invoice is held until the tax specialist confirms the treatment. The agent never changes a supplier's tax on its own.

Inside the platform
The case shows who it is waiting for, what happens next, what the agent checked and exactly what each person is approving.
Waiting for E. de Vries (Tax specialist) to confirm reverse charge, asked Mon 2 Nov at 10:05.
Once confirmed, AP asks the supplier for a corrected invoice, and the corrected one is checked again before posting.
| Step | Owner | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Format and tax checks | Agent | Done |
| Confirm tax treatment | E. de Vries · Tax | Waiting |
| Request corrected invoice | AP team | On hold |
| Check and post | Agent | Scheduled |
Supplier invoice RE-2026-8841 charges 19% German VAT on goods shipped from Germany to our Dutch entity, with valid VAT IDs on both sides. Treat as reverse charge and ask the supplier to reissue?

Capabilities
Every document checked before it posts, not sampled after.
Ownership
You map entities, countries and document types to owners. Whoever answers first decides, and anything unassigned goes to the tax manager.
Owners, rules and tolerances are configured to your organization and agreed for each deployment.
Controlled autonomy
The agent proves itself on your real work before it writes anything to SAP. The platform measures how often your people agree with it, so you decide when to give it more room, case type by case type.
The agent proposes every action but writes nothing to SAP. Your people decide, and each answer counts toward the agreement rate.
The required owners approve. The agent acts in SAP only when the last approval lands.
For case types you explicitly configure and approve, such as correcting a tax code where the rule is unambiguous and the master data is complete, the agent acts on its own and reports back.
Governed agent runtime
What makes this agent different is its configuration: its instructions, the tools it may use and the policies it works under. Reviewers, approvals, versions and audit work the same way for every agent you add.
Decisions go to named owners or authorized teams, with reminders, and every email links back to the case.
Gathering data is kept separate from changing SAP. Action tools are controlled and can require human approval before they run.
Versions can't be edited, and each case keeps the version it started with, so a change never alters work in progress.

What we measure
Every pilot tracks the same four measures from day one, so the business case comes from your data, not ours.
For SAP teams
The agent reads and writes data through supported SAP interfaces, without modifying standard SAP objects and without replacing your existing governance.
| Supplier invoices | Paper, PDF and structured e-invoices |
|---|---|
| Billing documents | Outgoing customer invoices |
| Orders | Sales and purchase orders |
| Master data | VAT IDs, tax classes and plants |
| Corrections | Tax codes corrected after approval |
|---|---|
| Holds | Invoices held until resolved |
| E-invoice responses | Rejections with the failed checks |
| Responses | Every SAP response recorded on the case |
ScopeThe agent checks against tax rules you agree with your tax team; it does not replace your tax engine. E-invoice exchange works through your existing channels, and alongside SAP Document and Reporting Compliance where you use it. Formats and countries are agreed in discovery.
Pilot approach
A focused pilot in your QA or sandbox system proves the agent on your own data before anything reaches production.
Review SAP edition, interfaces, authorizations and representative data.
Agree the entities, tax rules, e-invoice formats and approvers.
Check real documents in shadow mode: the agent flags, your tax team decides.
Review the four measures, then add entities, formats and approved corrections.
