SAP AI Agent · MM · IM · Inventory Configurable
Design scenario · how the agent is configured to work
Why it matters
Large lot sizes, outdated safety stock and cancelled orders leave stock no one needs. It sits until year-end, when finance writes it off, and the settings that caused it stay as they were.
How it works
The same four steps as every Artificio agent. The agent does the research and the paperwork; your teams make the decisions.
Reviews stock against demand and movements.
Works out why each material built up.
Proposes the best way to recover value.
Flags the settings that caused it.
Worked example
The materials manager wants to cut excess before year-end. Here is what the agent finds for one material.
Plant 2000 needs 3,200 EA. The rest can go back to the supplier for 85% credit. The fixed lot size of 10,000 caused the excess.
| Action | Materials · value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Transfer to other plants | 38 · $412,000 | Demand elsewhere in the next 6 months |
| Return to supplier | 22 · $286,000 | Return terms in the info record |
| Use up in other products | 15 · $94,000 | Approved alternates in BOMs |
| Scrap | 61 · $118,000 | No demand, past shelf life or obsolete |
| Settings to fix | 27 materials | Lot size or safety stock too high |
Nothing is moved, returned or scrapped without approval. Scrap needs the controller.

Inside the platform
The case shows who it is waiting for, what happens next, what the agent checked and exactly what each person is approving.
Waiting for N. Fischer (Materials manager) to approve 38 transfers worth $412,000, asked Mon 2 Nov at 05:10.
Once approved, stock transfers are created and plant 2000 is told what is coming. Returns and scrap follow their own approvals.
| Step | Owner | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Review 3,812 materials | Agent | Done |
| Approve 38 transfers | N. Fischer · Materials | Waiting |
| Approve 22 returns | Buyer | Waiting |
| Approve scrap | Controller | Scheduled |
Transfer 38 materials worth $412,000 from plant 1000 to plants with demand in the next six months, starting with 3,200 EA of RM-51200 to plant 2000?

Capabilities
Every slow mover explained, with a plan to recover value.
Ownership
You map plants and material groups to owners. Whoever answers first decides, and anything unassigned goes to the materials manager.
Owners, rules and tolerances are configured to your organization and agreed for each deployment.
Controlled autonomy
The agent proves itself on your real work before it writes anything to SAP. The platform measures how often your people agree with it, so you decide when to give it more room, case type by case type.
The agent proposes every action but writes nothing to SAP. Your people decide, and each answer counts toward the agreement rate.
The required owners approve. The agent acts in SAP only when the last approval lands.
For case types you explicitly configure and approve, such as flagging lot sizes for planners every month without waiting for a review, the agent acts on its own and reports back.
Governed agent runtime
What makes this agent different is its configuration: its instructions, the tools it may use and the policies it works under. Reviewers, approvals, versions and audit work the same way for every agent you add.
Decisions go to named owners or authorized teams, with reminders, and every email links back to the case.
Gathering data is kept separate from changing SAP. Action tools are controlled and can require human approval before they run.
Versions can't be edited, and each case keeps the version it started with, so a change never alters work in progress.

What we measure
Every pilot tracks the same four measures from day one, so the business case comes from your data, not ours.
For SAP teams
The agent reads and writes data through supported SAP interfaces, without modifying standard SAP objects and without replacing your existing governance.
| Stock | Quantities and values by plant |
|---|---|
| Movements | Last receipt and issue |
| Demand | MRP requirements in every plant |
| Settings | Lot sizes, safety stock and info records |
| Transfers | Stock transfers after approval |
|---|---|
| Returns | Return orders after the buyer approves |
| Settings | Planning changes after the planner approves |
| Responses | Every SAP response recorded on the case |
ScopeThe exact interfaces, objects and fields in scope are confirmed for your SAP release and deployment during technical discovery. S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is reviewed case by case, and some landscapes may need additional configuration.
Pilot approach
A focused pilot in your QA or sandbox system proves the agent on your own data before anything reaches production.
Review SAP edition, interfaces, authorizations and representative data.
Agree the plants, thresholds, actions and approvers.
Review one quarter in shadow mode: the agent proposes, your team acts.
Review the four measures, then add plants and monthly reviews.
