SAP AI Agent · Security · SU53 · Roles Configurable

Resolve SAP missing authorization requests with governed AI agents.

When a user hits an authorization error, the agent reads the failed check, works out whether an existing role should grant it or a role needs extending, and routes the request to the role owner with the policy and SoD check. A missing authorization is analysed, never granted automatically.

Why it matters

Authorization tickets bounce between teams while users can't work.

A user sends an SU53 screenshot, security tries to work out which role should grant it, and the quick fix is often a broader role than the user needs.

  • Slow

    Users blocked for days

Authorization tickets wait while security works out what's missing and who owns the role.Blocked work → Escalations → Emergency access
  • Over-granting

The quick fix is a bigger role

Under pressure, users get broad roles or extra authorizations that create risk.Excess access → SoD conflicts → Audit findings
  • Role drift

Roles changed one ticket at a time

Ad hoc role changes erode your role design.Messy roles → Hard audits → Costly redesign

How it works

Read. Validate. Decide. Act.

The same four steps as every Artificio agent. The agent does the research and the paperwork; your teams make the decisions.

  1. 01 · Read

    Read the failed check

From an SU53 screenshot, a ticket or an authorization trace.

    • Object, field values and transaction extracted
    • User's current roles read from SAP
  2. 02 · Validate

    Find the right role

Searches existing roles that grant exactly what's missing.

    • Narrowest matching role preferred
    • Role design and naming rules respected
  3. 03 · Decide

    Check policy, then propose

Checks the proposal against your policy before the owner sees it.

    • SoD and critical access checked
    • Role extension drafted only when no role fits
  4. 04 · Act

    Apply after approval

Assigns the role or applies the role change after approval.

    • Role changes follow your change and transport process
    • User told what changed

Worked example

A blocked buyer, from SU53 to approved role.

A buyer who now covers plant 1100 can't change purchase orders there. Here is what the agent finds before anyone opens role maintenance.

  • If no role fits

    Extension drafted, not applied

The agent drafts the narrowest role change for the role owner and security to review, following your role design rules.
  • If the request breaks policy

    Rejected or mitigated

Conflicting access needs a recorded decision and a mitigating control, or it isn't granted.
  • If it's really a different problem

    Sent to the right team

Some errors look like authorization problems but aren't; those go to the right team with the evidence.

Capabilities

Authorization requests with governance built in.

Every request gets the narrowest fix that policy allows, with a recorded decision.

  • Read

    Failed checks

SU53 screenshots, tickets and authorization traces.
  • Match

    Narrowest role

Existing roles that grant exactly what's missing, narrowest first.

Ownership

Each decision goes to the person who owns it.

You name role owners and approvers. Whoever answers first decides, and anything unassigned goes to the security lead.

Controlled autonomy

Start with human oversight. Automate only when ready.

The agent proves itself on your real work before it writes anything to SAP. The platform measures how often your people agree with it, so you decide when to give it more room, case type by case type.

  1. Step 1Where every agent starts

    Shadow mode

The agent proposes every action but writes nothing to SAP. Your people decide, and each answer counts toward the agreement rate.

  2. Step 2

    Approve, then act

The required owners approve. The agent acts in SAP only when the last approval lands.

  3. Step 3

    Act by approved rule

For case types you explicitly configure and approve, such as assigning a pre-approved role from the same family for another plant, when the manager confirms, the agent acts on its own and reports back.

Governed agent runtime

Shared platform controls across every Artificio agent.

What makes this agent different is its configuration: its instructions, the tools it may use and the policies it works under. Reviewers, approvals, versions and audit work the same way for every agent you add.

What we measure

Results you can see in your own numbers.

Every pilot tracks the same four measures from day one, so the business case comes from your data, not ours.

  • Time to resolve

From error reported to user able to work.
  • Narrowest-role rate

Requests resolved with an existing, narrow role.
  • Conflicts prevented

    SoD conflicts stopped before assignment.
  • Role changes avoided

Requests solved without changing a role.

For SAP teams

Integrates with SAP ECC and S/4HANA through standard interfaces.

The agent reads and writes data through supported SAP interfaces, without modifying standard SAP objects and without replacing your existing governance.

Writes to SAP

ScopeThe exact interfaces, objects and fields in scope are confirmed for your SAP release and deployment during technical discovery. S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is reviewed case by case, and some landscapes may need additional configuration.

Pilot approach

Start with one module's authorization tickets.

A focused pilot in your QA or sandbox system proves the agent on your own data before anything reaches production.

  1. Phase 1

    Connect

Review SAP edition, interfaces, authorizations and representative data.

  2. Phase 2

    Configure

Agree the roles in scope, role owners, SoD ruleset and approvals.

  3. Phase 3

    Pilot

Run real tickets in shadow mode: the agent proposes, security decides.

  4. Phase 4

    Expand

Review the four measures, then add modules and pre-approved role families.

Frequently asked questions

Questions SAP teams ask.

Does it grant access automatically?
No. A missing authorization is analysed, not automatically granted. The role owner approves every assignment, and conflicting access needs a recorded decision.
How does it choose a role?
It searches your existing roles for ones that grant exactly the failed check and proposes the narrowest one. Broader roles are shown but not proposed.
What if no existing role fits?
The agent drafts the narrowest role change following your role design rules. Security reviews it, and it moves through your normal change and transport process.
Can it read SU53 screenshots?
Yes. It reads SU53 screenshots attached to tickets, and can also use authorization traces in SAP where you allow it.
Does it work with SAP Access Control (GRC)?
It can work alongside SAP Access Control where you have it, using your existing rules and workflows, or with your own SoD ruleset.
Is the Missing Authorization & Role Extension Agent available today?
It is configured on request on the same governed platform as Artificio's available agents. We start by scoping your process and systems, then configure and test the agent in a pilot in your SAP QA or sandbox system before anything reaches production.
Does the Missing Authorization & Role Extension Agent write to SAP without approval?
Not by default. Every agent starts in shadow mode, where nothing is written to SAP. After that, the required owners approve before the agent acts. Automatic action is only possible for cases you explicitly configure and approve.
Which SAP versions are supported?
SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA. The exact interfaces and scope are confirmed for your release and deployment during technical discovery; S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is reviewed case by case.

Security & compliance

Enterprise security across every agent

ISO 27001:2013 certified, SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, GDPR and HIPAA ready. Every agent action is logged and auditable, and SAP credentials stay in the platform's integration accounts.
