Assigned reviewers
Decisions go to named owners or authorized teams, with reminders, and every email links back to the case.
SAP AI Agent · MM · Material master
Illustrative example · not a production transaction
Why it matters
Duplicate parts, incomplete views and slow handoffs hit purchasing, MRP, costing, engineering and order fulfillment, often weeks after the material was created.
How it works
The same four steps as every Artificio agent. The agent does the research and the paperwork; your teams make the decisions.
From a form, email or spreadsheet template, with drawings and specs attached.
Checks the request against existing materials and your data rules.
Proposes values for each view from your rules and comparable materials.
Routes each view to its owner and creates the material once all required approvals are in.
Worked example
Engineering requests a new bearing for plant 1000 and attaches a drawing and a supplier quote. Here is what the agent finds and proposes before anyone opens SAP.
MAT-10044 has a similar description and the same manufacturer part number. The requester must reuse it, extend it, or justify a new record before anything is created. Here, they confirmed a sealed variant from a different supplier.
| Field | Proposed | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Material type | ROH | Purchased, not produced. Your raw-material rule. |
| MRP type | PD | Planning rule and similar purchased bearings. |
| Lot size | EX | Your approved default set for this plant. |
| Planned delivery | 21 days | Lead time stated on the supplier quote. |
| Purchasing group | P07 | Plant purchasing assignment for this group. |
| Valuation class | 3000 | Material type and valuation configuration. |
| Price control | V · 4.85 | Moving average; price from quote. Finance reviews. |
No SAP posting until every required review is complete. Each approval is tied to the exact values the reviewer saw.

Inside the platform
The case shows who the request is waiting for, what happens next, what the agent checked and exactly what each reviewer is approving.
Waiting for S. Vega (Quality) to approve the Quality view, asked Mon 2 Nov at 09:14.
A reminder goes out tomorrow at 09:14 if there is no answer.
| View | Reviewer | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Basic data & units | M. Patel · MDM | Approved |
| Purchasing & MRP | A. Chen · Planning | Approved |
| Accounting | R. Okoye · Finance | Approved |
| Quality | S. Vega · Quality | Waiting |

Capabilities
Single requests, extensions and bulk loads go through the same checks, so data quality doesn't depend on how the material arrived.
Views and ownership
You name a reviewer or team address for each group of views. Whoever answers first decides, and the agent can't be switched on while any required view has no reviewer.
Not every material type needs every view. The views and fields in scope are agreed for each deployment.
Controlled autonomy
The agent proves itself on your real requests before it writes anything to SAP. The platform measures how often reviewers agree with it, so you decide when to give it more room, request type by request type.
The agent proposes every value but writes nothing to SAP. Reviewers decide, and each answer counts toward the agreement rate.
Required owners approve their views. The agent creates the material when the last approval lands.
For request types you explicitly configure and approve, such as plant extensions, eligible requests are created automatically.
Governed agent runtime
What makes this agent different is its configuration: its instructions, the tools it may use and the policies it works under. Reviewers, approvals, versions and audit work the same way for every agent you add.
Decisions go to named owners or authorized teams, with reminders, and every email links back to the case.
Gathering data is kept separate from changing SAP. Action tools are controlled and can require human approval before they run.
Versions can't be edited, and each request keeps the version it started with, so a change never alters work in progress.

What we measure
Every pilot tracks the same four measures from day one, so the business case comes from your data, not ours.
For SAP teams
The agent reads and writes material data the way your own team would build it, with no changes to the SAP core and without replacing your existing governance.
| Existing materials | Duplicate and similarity checks |
|---|---|
| Comparable materials | Recommended values per view |
| Configuration | Material types, groups, plants, valuation classes |
| Suppliers | Validate supplier and source |
| S/4HANA | API_PRODUCT_SRV (OData) |
|---|---|
| ECC | BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA |
| Documents | Source files linked to the material where document services are configured |
| Responses | Every SAP response recorded on the case for resolution or retry |
ScopeThe exact views, posting method and document handling are confirmed for your SAP release and deployment during technical discovery. S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is reviewed case by case, and some landscapes may need additional configuration.
Pilot approach
A focused pilot in your QA or sandbox system proves the agent on your own materials before anything reaches production.
Review SAP edition, interfaces, authorizations and representative materials.
Agree one or two material types, the views, validation rules and reviewers.
Run real requests in shadow mode, including duplicates and failed postings.
Review the four measures, then widen material types, plants and autonomy.
