SAP AI Agent · FI · CO · Period close Configurable
Design scenario · how the agent is configured to work
Why it matters
Accruals are estimated from spreadsheets, and close blockers are discovered on the last day. Controllers spend the close chasing people instead of reviewing numbers.
How it works
The same four steps as every Artificio agent. The agent does the research and the paperwork; your teams make the decisions.
Reads your close calendar and the status of each task.
Finds costs incurred but not yet invoiced.
Shows what is stopping the close, with an owner.
Posts approved accruals and reverses them on time.
Worked example
Three days before the deadline, the controller wants to know what is accrued and what is blocking. Here is what the agent finds.
October service is confirmed and the supplier always invoices after month-end. Accrue the full monthly value, reversing on 1 Nov.
| Item | Count | Owner |
|---|---|---|
| Accruals proposed | 142 · $486,200 | GL accountant |
| Production orders not closed | 52 | Production controller |
| GR/IR items unexplained | 84 | Purchasing |
| Late postings expected | 6 invoices | AP team |
| Intercompany pairs open | 2 | Controllers |
Accruals post only after the GL accountant approves, each with a reversal date. Blockers stay on the close list until their owner clears them.

Inside the platform
The case shows who it is waiting for, what happens next, what the agent checked and exactly what each person is approving.
Waiting for S. Nguyen (GL accountant) to approve 142 accruals totalling $486,200, asked Mon 2 Nov at 06:00.
Once approved, accruals post with a reversal date of 1 Nov. Blocker owners are reminded daily until the close.
| Step | Owner | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Close status and accruals | Agent | Done |
| Notify 9 blocker owners | Agent | Sent |
| Approve 142 accruals | S. Nguyen · GL | Waiting |
| Post with reversal | Agent | On hold |
Post 142 accruals totalling $486,200 for October? Each is a confirmed receipt or service without an invoice, and each reverses on 1 Nov.

Capabilities
Every accrual explained, every blocker owned.
Ownership
You map close tasks and cost centers to owners. Whoever answers first decides, and anything unassigned goes to the controller.
Owners, rules and tolerances are configured to your organization and agreed for each deployment.
Controlled autonomy
The agent proves itself on your real work before it writes anything to SAP. The platform measures how often your people agree with it, so you decide when to give it more room, case type by case type.
The agent proposes every action but writes nothing to SAP. Your people decide, and each answer counts toward the agreement rate.
The required owners approve. The agent acts in SAP only when the last approval lands.
For case types you explicitly configure and approve, such as posting accruals for confirmed service entries under your threshold, the agent acts on its own and reports back.
Governed agent runtime
What makes this agent different is its configuration: its instructions, the tools it may use and the policies it works under. Reviewers, approvals, versions and audit work the same way for every agent you add.
Decisions go to named owners or authorized teams, with reminders, and every email links back to the case.
Gathering data is kept separate from changing SAP. Action tools are controlled and can require human approval before they run.
Versions can't be edited, and each case keeps the version it started with, so a change never alters work in progress.

What we measure
Every pilot tracks the same four measures from day one, so the business case comes from your data, not ours.
For SAP teams
The agent reads and writes data through supported SAP interfaces, without modifying standard SAP objects and without replacing your existing governance.
| Receipts | Goods receipts and service entries |
|---|---|
| Purchase orders | Open and recurring service POs |
| Invoices | Posted and expected supplier invoices |
| Close calendar | Tasks, owners and deadlines |
| Accruals | Posted after approval, with a reversal date |
|---|---|
| Reversals | Checked when invoices post |
| Blocker list | Owners notified with dates |
| Responses | Every SAP response recorded on the case |
ScopeAccruals post through your standard accrual process, such as accrual documents with automatic reversal, or alongside the S/4HANA purchase order accrual apps where you use them. Close calendars can come from SAP Advanced Financial Closing or your own task list.
Pilot approach
A focused pilot in your QA or sandbox system proves the agent on your own data before anything reaches production.
Review SAP edition, interfaces, authorizations and representative data.
Agree the accrual rules, thresholds, close tasks and approvers.
Run one close in shadow mode: the agent proposes, your team posts.
Review the four measures, then add company codes and approved automatic accruals.

Security & compliance
ISO 27001:2013 certified, SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, GDPR and HIPAA ready. Every agent action is logged and auditable, and SAP credentials stay in the platform's integration accounts.
